Woman Beheaded in Afghanistan for Shopping Without Husband


A woman was beheaded by a gang of armed men in Afghanistan because she went shopping without her husband.

The 30-year-old woman entered the Taliban controlled village of Latti in Sar-e-Pul province. According to the Middle East Press, the woman had gone to a market there to shop.  While at the market she was approached by a group of armed men who later beheaded her.

Taliban rules prohibit any woman from leaving their homes without the company of a male who is a close relative.

The Provincial Governor spokesman Zabiullah Amani stated that “the 30-year-old woman was targeted because she went out alone without her husband, who is in Iran.”

The Taliban have banned women from working, attaining an education, and being in public without wearing a burqa.
