Well it’s early and a year is a long time in politics. Once the mid-term elections come and go, Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey could be riding high again. But there’s no question now Jeb Bush is giving the presidency some serious thought. The field is wide open and he would be up against other Republican governors who are viewed as first tier candidates and with good reason.
If this piece in the NYT is to be believed, it means big GOP donors are getting ready to switch from Christie to Bush? I would ardently vote for either, but it’s a little too soon to say Christie is down and out. In the fullness of time, we may find that he actually benefits later, but taking a step back now.
