The first time Kevin Jackson spoke publicly, it was in front of over 10,000 people at Kiener Plaza in St. Louis, MO, April 15, 2009, at the Tax Day Tea Party rally. He had called Dana Loesch—his friend now, however didn’t know her at the time—and asked if he could speak at the upcoming Tea Party rally. She said the speaking spots had been filled, but invited him to emcee the event.
When meeting with the other speakers at a nearby restaurant to get acquainted before the rally, with people like Jim Hoft (the Gateway Pundit) and Ed Martin, it was evident that none of them had any idea of what was about to happen.
For the rally, media trucks were parked along Market Street, and the crowd began pouring in with enough energy in the air to power the city.
Gathering his notes on the speakers, Jackson left the restaurant and joined the attendees that were forming in numbers he have never seen outside of a sporting event. As Jackson weaved his way through the crowd he was thinking, “This is the beginning of something really big.”
What should have been a terrifying experience, the prospect of speaking in front of thousands of people, was quite the opposite. Jackson felt a wave of confidence from the collective spirit of all those great patriots, and was charged up.
Jackson grew up with people of the Tea Party movement, knowing them to be what they really are, and not what the lamestream media portrays. He knows they (he) are not Republican or Democrat, but just Americans who have finally had enough.
That event launched Jackson’s speaking career. Educating with humor. Telling his story of a poor black kid who loses his mother at age 5, having a drug-addicted and resident of San Quentin prison father…learning that he might need to laugh to keep from crying. He learned to find the good in life, and the humor of a situation. For more on Jackson, visit theblacksphere.net
Jackson learned that America provided opportunity, not excuses.
And…that the American Dream is possible for anybody willing to work for it.
