Senator Schumer Slams Trump on Wiretapping Claims


In an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday with Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), host Chuck Todd brought up the subject of President Trump’s latest tweets about Chuck Schumer meeting with Russian President Putin and the president calling Schumer “a total hypocrite.”

Regarding President Trump’s recent claims that former President Obama ordered wiretaps on his phones in 2016, prior to the election, Schumer replied:

Well look, President Obama has flatly denied that he has done this, and either way, Chuck, the president’s in trouble. If he falsely spread this kind of misinformation, that is so wrong. It’s beneath the dignity of the presidency. It is something that really hurts people’s view of government. It’s civilization warping.”

Schumer went on to say that it “shows the president doesn’t know how to ‘conduct himself.’”
