Sanctuary City Cuts Ties With FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force


The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) has announced they are ending their contract with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF).

According to the local NBC affiliate in San Francisco, the SFPD will reconsider its contract with the JTTF if the task force organization updates its guidelines for First Amendments activities and investigation protocols.

KNTV reports that several foreign advocacy groups wrote a letter to the police department concerned over the possibility of “increased surveillance” by the JTTF.

The Asian Law Caucus, the Council on American-Islamic Relations’ San Francisco Bay Area office, and the American Civil Liberties Union of Northern California say they want the police department to cut ties with the terrorism task force, altogether.
