Representative Peter King of New York’s 2nd Congressional District is one of many to consider seeking the Republican Party’s nomination for President in 2016. It’s getting crowded as more candidates mull entering the race and many things are still unknown. How will the Obama Administration’s actions continue through the rest of his presidency? What will the US economy, national security, and foreign image be like? A successful candidate’s platform needs to speak to voters and Americans where they’re at, and offer an appealing road map for the next four years. Will Congressman King be able to offer such a plan?
On the surface, it appears so. After serving more than a decade in Congress, Peter King has had many opportunities to cement a reputation. His is a reputation built around unapologetic pride in America, and protecting his beloved nation. Among King’s major focuses is national security and anti-terror policies. King has come down hard on the Obama administration for its relatively weak foreign policy and inability to adequately respond to threats against Americans at home and abroad.
