Surely, we can’t be the only ones asking the question in the headline. Obama and his cronies are high-fiving one another over their latest plan to withdraw all combat troops from Afghanistan by the end of 2016, much to the chagrin of Senators John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and Kelly Ayotte, to name but three. Indeed, as countless critics have pointed out, the move is a purely political one. After all, what other possible rationale would justify announcing to one’s enemy when you’ll be vacating the premises? Team Obama has decided to put political expediency during a turbulent midterm election year ahead of safety…and common sense. If they’ve consulted one single general on the ground about this move, it’s almost a guarantee that it was a superficial courtesy, meant only to check the box that says, “yep, we consulted the top brass,” before moving forward with their predetermined pullout plan.
