Obamacare, Immigration Reform and Why the Shutdown Still Matters

by Nancy Keaton

Illegal immigrants do not have to sign up for Obamacare. They don’t have to worry about paying outrageous premiums, deductibles and co-pays. Free and low-cost clinics will continue because there will still be millions without medical insurance. Illegals will still be able to go into the emergency rooms at hospitals with their fake IDs and fake social security numbers, get the treatment they need and go home, never to pay a cent.

So why is the Obama administration and the Democrats pushing to make illegals legal? Let’s say they get their way and millions of illegal immigrants suddenly become legal U.S. citizens. What’s next? They will be required to enroll in Obamacare and purchase insurance. Will that be the “carrot” to get the Republicans to fall for immigration reform and help push it through, in order to make illegals “pay their fair share”?

Then how much more money would be needed from the middle class to pay for the massive influx of people onto the freebie rolls? That’s already a problem in my own state of Washington. Yes, we’ve had several tens of thousands of people sign up for the state exchange – but the majority are enrolling in Medicaid. Meaning more people are signing up to receive free coverage than are signing up to pay for not only their own coverage for the freebies as well.
