The New York Times aired a television ad during this year’s Academy Award Ceremony Sunday night. The ad focuses on the “truth.” The New York Times considers itself the paper of record on the issues of the day and carries the following line that appears in the upper left-hand corner of the front page — “All the News That’s Fit to Print.”
Allegiance to the “truth” is nowhere to be found. The Times has had a left-leaning agenda for a very long time. That agenda does not always include the truth.
Who determines what news is “fit to print”? A topic not reported on or a topic not accurately represented is a truth issue.
The quest for truth goes back a long way. When the serpent asked Eve, “Hath God said?” (Gen. 3:1), he was asking a question related to telling the truth. He was intimating that what God said was not truthful, that eating the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil would not result in their spiritual death. He lied and Adam and Eve died. There are consequences for rejecting the truth.
Proverbs 18:17 states,
The first to plead his case seems right,
Until another comes and examines him.
To get to the truth demands examination. There are at least two sides to a story (Prov. 18:17). Does The New York Times present both sides, giving both sides of an issue accurate representation? Not often. Truth demands an objective moral standard, something that is no longer considered today by the mainstream media (unless you hold Progressive ‘values’).
