New Inquiry Issued In Trump’s Donations

The New York Attorney General, Eric Schneiderman, has opened up an investigation into Donald Trump’s foundation and charitable donations, claiming he and his office will double check that Trump’s charities are abiding by New York state law practices.

The inquiry is being issued because The Washington Post claims that Trump spent money from his charity on himself, using recycled funds to make them appear to have come from him. The allegation also states he hasn’t given to the foundation since 2008.

Schneiderman’s full statement to CNN’s Jake Tapper is below:

“We’ve inquired into it. We’ve had correspondence with them. I didn’t make a big deal out of it or hold a press conference. But we have been looking into the Trump Foundation to make sure it’s complying with the laws governing charities in New York. My interest in this issue really is in my capacity as regulator of non-profits in New York state, and we have been concerned that the Trump Foundation may have engaged in some impropriety from that point of view.”

“This is nothing more than another left-wing hit job designed to distract from Hillary Clinton’s disastrous week,” said Jason Miller, a Trump spokesman in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Washington Post article stated many charities that Trump claimed to support never received their donations from the billionaire. But CNN contacted the charities directly. Knowing the cameras were rolling, after some digging the charities suddenly found the money and claimed clerical errors. See video.
