Hillary Clinton Launches Campaign at NYC Inauguration

The Clinton’s rang in the New Year by leaping left and taking a high profile role in the inauguration of New York City progressive Mayor Bill de Blasio. Bill Clinton presided over the public but unofficial swearing-in ceremony on New Year’s Day as Hillary watched close by.

The aggressive move by team Clinton was no doubt the unofficial announcement of Hillary’s run for president.

For Hillary to get the nod from Democrats she must take a hard left turn to get the nomination and de Blasio could give her the progressive backing to head-off a challenger from the left. Recall then Senator Barack Obama beat Hillary to the left during the 2008 Democrat primary.

At the event, Bill Clinton endorsed de Blasio’s style of progressive politics by hammering away at the income inequality problem saying, “This inequality problem bedevils our entire country, and, I can tell you from my work, much of the world.”

The Daily Beast captured the essence of de Blasio’s speech regarding his progressive plans to level the playing field:

“But we know that our mission reaches deeper,” de Blasio said. “We are called to put an end to economic and social inequalities that threaten to unravel the city we love. And so today, we commit to a new progressive direction in New York. And that same progressive impulse has written our city’s history. It’s in our DNA.”
