(Providence, RI.) – The push for a sales tax cut to 3% in the Ocean State received a major boost last evening from Grover Norquist, a prominent national anti-tax crusader, according to the Rhode Island Center for Freedom and Prosperity, which itself is preparing testimony for hearings this afternoon on House bill 8039 that would reduce the state’s sales tax rate by four points from its current 7% level, one of the highest rates in the nation.
