The leadership of the GOP – if you can call them “leadership” is working desperately to pass an amnesty bill even though the American people want real Border Security before any action is taken on either “legalization” or citizenship.

The Gang of Eight, who should be renamed MS13.1 because of the damage S744 will cause, managed to slam an amnesty bill through the Senate a couple of months ago. It’s now languishing in the House while John Boehner tries to figure out how to bend to the will of the Senate and Beltway Republicans while ignoring the American people and still hang on to his Speakership. Things are starting to heat up because the “August Recess” is upon us and House Members are coming home to face their constituents.
Let’s take a look at where the American people stand on immigration.
Fifty-nine percent (59%) of Likely U.S. Voters favor an immigration plan that gives illegal immigrants legal status to stay in the United States provided the border is really secured to prevent future illegal immigration. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 25% are opposed to this plan. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
In other words, secure the damn border THEN we can talk about “legal status”. I’m not going to get into it here, but “legal status” means dramatically different things to different people. If you hear someone talking about the subject, ask them if they mean “citizenship” and then ask “when”.
