Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert sentenced to 15 months in prison, $250K fine


A federal judge in Chicago has sentenced Dennis Hastert to 15 months in prison and ordered the former House Speaker to pay $250,000 to a fund for victims of sexual abuse for violating banking laws to pay off a person he molested in the 1970s.

Judge Thomas M. Durkin announced the sentence today. He further ordered that Hastert must undergo sex offender treatment abd two years of supervised release after his sentences has been served.

The hush-money case centered on accusations that Hastert sexually abused at least four students during his stint as a high school wrestling coach.
